Welcome to the Westquarter Local History Webpage

The Westquarter History Group meet on Tuesdays in Room 3 at Westquarter Primary School.

The group was started due to an interest made by residents of the village namely Pat Baird ( Nana Pat ) who is a passionate supporter of the village and  the other who now attend are Allister Mitchell, Joe Anderson,Ron Smith , Ina Scott nee Hamilton, Jane Sheilds, Charlotte Ure (Lottie), Moira Wilson nee Donnelly, Tilly Donnelly, Sylvia Bradley and Susan Nisbet.Many other old residents pop in for a chat and a cuppa and enjoy the company.

The group is supported by Community Education  and has recently aquired funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund  to gather the memories of the older residents of the village and in turn publish a book which hopefully will be ready by Oct 2010. 

We hope to add more pages soon particuarly photographs ( so be prepared to get a reddie )
